Over 2,000 years old and effective for a wide range of conditions, acupuncture is a modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) where thin, sterile needles are inserted into the body at various points along pathways known as meridians. The goal is to bring the body back into balance.
Acupuncture has been shown to reduce inflammation, lower cortisol levels, increase range of motion, and alleviate pain. Click here to learn more about how acupuncture works, how it feels to receive it, and a list of commonly treated conditions!

Ear seeds are small, adhesive pellets that apply mild pressure to select acupressure points on the ears.
Once applied, ear seeds can stay in place for 3-5 days and massaged for prolonged effect. They come in either gold or silver options with a clear, latex-free adhesive and look like tiny piercings or jewelry!
Our ear seeding sessions may incorporate acupressure, Teishin, and Tui Na massage techniques for a personalized, non-invasive, grounding treatment.

Did you know that, historically, there are nine different needles used in acupuncture?
One of them, the filiform needle, is the standard used in the field and the one you probably think of when you hear the word “acupuncture”.
Another lesser known needle, called a teishin, is used to stimulate acupuncture points and meridians without piercing the skin. Teishin are used most often in Japanese style acupuncture, which is characterized by a “less is more” approach.
Using a teishin, results like reducing inflammation, activating the parasympathetic nervous system, and alleviating pain may be achieved without being inserted into the skin. All the benefits of acupuncture without the puncture part.
This style of treatment is great for anyone sensitive to or afraid of needles, younger children, neurodivergent patients, & others.

With acupressure, acupuncture points and meridians are activated by manually applying pressure or targeted massage.
Acupressure is often incorporated in non-invasive treatment options such as ear seeding and teishin or “needle-less” acupuncture.
The great thing about acupressure? It’s easy to teach! Even if you schedule a regular acupuncture appointment, you may be given some acupressure “homework” to practice on yourself.

The ear is a microcosm of the human body and can be used to treat both internal and external conditions. If you’re nervous around needles but wish to try traditional acupuncture, auricular treatments are a great place to start!
Treatments are shorter, but still pack a punch. Other non-invasive modalities such as teishin, Tui Na massage, or moxibustion may be incorporated depending on your condition and goals.
Auricular acupuncture has been shown to reduce musculoskeletal pain, regulate the nervous system, and manage migraines as well as assist with smoking cessation, substance abuse/medication withdrawal, and PTSD.

Moxibustion is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) warming therapy that involves the burning of the dried, ground herb mugwort (aka moxa) on or above the body at select acupuncture points.
Moxibustion encourages blood flow, boosts energy, aids with digestion, & alleviates pain. It has even been shown to flip a fetus from breech position before birth - a treatment called Breech Moxibustion, which I offer for pregnant patients between 32-36 weeks who are struggle with this presentation.
Moxa has an earthy, incense-like scent and produces a light amount of smoke. If you are sensitive to either, please let me know. My treatment room does have a small air filter and fan, but we can skip this modality if it isn’t for you.
